那天在马路上
就是我们幸福的开始

I met with a car accident today.

Well before you go OH MY GOD ARE YOU OKAY, let me say that I'm fine (and Princess P too) and the car only suffered minor paint scratches above the frontal left wheel.

I was trying to get to Beach Road. For those of you still to know, I'm really bad with directions. So anyway there was I driving along whatever name that road is.

I was on lane 1, ie the first lane from the right.

Busy reading the map and finding out my bearings, I drove straight. You can see from the above arrow that I cannot do that. On that lane you can only turn right.

So there was a taxi on lane 2. He was turning right. I, on lane 1, was going straight. We brushed against each other before he quickly pressed his horn and swerved away.

He then parked at the front. Within that split second I was thinking do I have to park too for a 'confrontation'? I was slightly panicking a wee bit because I don't really know the extent of the damage delivered to our cars. There was a small brushing noise which didn't sound horrible, but still set my pulse running. In my mind I was thinking what am I supposed to do, I don't know how to negotiate under such circumstances.

So anyway he walked out first and when I stepped out, he said, "You're supposed to turn right, right?" He was a middle aged Chinese who spoke pretty fluent English.

I was immediately apologetic. I said yes sorry I was driving and got lost and I lost concentration. He asked where I was going and I replied and then he said I overshot. Then we went to check the damage of the 'brushing past'. The paint above my frontal left wheel was marked with black marks. His right car's side had the merest of paint removed too. I asked him if his car is ok and he said it's ok. He asked what about mine. I said it's ok I think a paint job can settle it. (To be done by my Mum, if she decides to do it =x . Yet to tell her as she's asleep when I got back.)
Then he finalised by saying something like ok then no big deal and be careful next time. I said ok thanks and gave him a pat on his back =x .

And we parted.

All these happened while there were crowds at both sides of the road, waiting for the green man to come on!!! When I got off the car I saw EVERYONE looking at us!

Yes I've drawn the people as cute little purple dots.

So if anyone snapped a picture and put it on STOMP or something, please tell me!
I didn't get the taxi driver's name or car number. Sorry! And thanks for being nice!
I know in the end the car accident was no big deal. But still, it's an accident, and it could have been much worse! It was probably due to the fact that the taxi and my car were first in line in our respective lanes and didn't have time to accelerate or we'd have been travelling at greater speeds and the impact would have been greater. I'm thankful for the taxi driver's quick reflexes in swerving away instead of hitting me right on too.

It could have been much worse!
But everything's ok! So I should stop shouting now.

~End of report~
