Before you read on, Check out the Dream Academy webpage! Yes! Princess P and I went to watch The little shop of horrors! Featuring The Dim Sum Dollies and starring Hossan Leong and co. So Seymour is a amateur botanist who comes across this plant and names it Audrey II, after the girl. He finds out that with each drip of human blood Audrey II grows bigger. And as the plant grew bigger, the shop welcomed more business and he soon found himself being interviewed and getting on talk shows and conducting work shops. Ah. He's found fame. Fame comes with a price. The plant (voiced by Electrico's Dave Tan) soon wants more and more blood. Seymour can't satisfy its hunger by merely pricking his fingers, can he? He needs to find new ways to feed Audrey II. And that leads to certain people being "mysteriously gone".
It's not my first time watching a musical. The first musical I went to was Annie. You know the song "Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow~~ You're only a day away...." I don't remember anything about that musical except that line. I was in primary school and my neighbour had an extra ticket so they brought me along. I don't even remember which neighbour. =x So anyway I really enjoyed this musical. I think it's so tough for them, to be able to act and sing at the same time. Because I got us good seats (hooray for pay!), we had an awesome view of the cast and props. In one scene where Mr Mushnik was indulging in his cigarette, we could even smell the smoke! To me it was a wonderful and entertaining experience. Hmm well I don't really know how to give a critique on acting, but everyone sang well. The costumes were great. Audrey often wore low cut tops. Dim Sum dollies had a variety of clothes. A pity though they didn't appear that much. I counted about 4 full singing acts and some minor parts. But the show wasn't about them, it was mostly about Seymour. Hossan Leong is like a small boy running around. I think he really enjoys what he's doing, and he does it so well. But of course it's not that realistic because he sings in perfect pronunciated english. Haha. Nice show! Very funny! Makes fun of many things in the local context as well. Worth a watch! I'll end with a photo! Too bad I couldn't take a pic with Hossan. He left before we could grab him.
Sorry lah! Something wrong with the camera lens. Sent for repair liao. Oh yah, the dim sum dollies look nice also. =x triggering Mr Ng HS |
