Gentingtingting
![]() Genting Skyway. Hello I’m back from my 3D2N trip to Genting, my first time there since I was a 7 or 8 year old kid. I shall now attempt to quickly recall and type whatever that comes to mind, mostly in chronological order. Exchange rate: S$1 = RM$2.265 Warning: You should not read this. Because it kills your brain cells. If I post any pictures, you may choose to alt-f4 because I will post so many it’s gonna take forever for the page to load. (Ignore dates on photos. Princess P got her system wrong.) Sunday morning 7am At Golden Mile Complex. And off we go on the super coach! Bus Trip. The jam before the Singapore customs. Then to the Malaysian customs. I took longer than usual to clear because the officer behind the desk talked to me asking me why my book was so blank and devoid of chops. Haha. Onto the highways, and a pit stop at the local food court, where we ate some light breakfast. Continued on and finally I saw GENTING HIGHLANDS at about 1+pm. But that was only the foot of the hill. We still had to go round and round till we reached the summit. Queued up and checked into our hotel. Amazing thing was I couldn’t fall asleep on the whole friggin bus journey! I went out on Saturday to celebrate Princess P’s best friend’s birthday and was back only at 1am. Packed and went to bed at 2. Because I was so full from that day’s meals (and I didn’t even eat a lot), I had a stomachache at 4am, and then at 5am. People don’t understand that I can’t eat a lot without exercising, because then I will feel super uncomfortable and seemingly bloated. So unbelievably amidst all my pre-trip excitement I went to the gym at 5am that very morning and ran 5k. And I was so tired on the bus. But I just couldn’t fall asleep. There was this old couple behind me talking in dialect, which I don’t understand but still disturbs me, and the sounds coming from the vcd “XXX2-the next level” was keeping me awake. So there I was, too tired to watch the movie, but too distracted to sleep. And I opened my eyes whenever Princess P shuffled herself on her seat. I was so afraid that I’d be too exhausted even before I reached Genting. But there we were! Finally! After 7 hours! It wasn’t very cold. It wasn’t cold at all. Princess P’s mum said the sun came out today. Throughout the 3d2n stay the temperature was about 15-19 degrees C I think. And I must say that it’s a good experience because I over packed my clothes. Princess P’s mum said sleeping must have different set of comfy pants and shirt lah, there very cold lah etc. But I found it only cooling. There were times where I was cold for awhile but most of the times it was good and sometimes it was even hot (for me only) and I perspired. The casino itself was a little stuffy probably ‘cos of the weekend crowd, although during the 2nd night we were there in the wee hours from 3-7am and it was colder with less people. I will bring so much lesser clothes the next time I go Genting, which I don’t know when because I believe I’ve seen most of it already. After checking in, it’s time for lunch. My stomach was still suffering from overcrowding so I just took some food from Princess P’s plate. The rest ate like hungry soldiers on the war path. I wish I could eat like that too… ![]() ![]() Indoors (day and night at different places) Approaching 4pm and it’s bling bling time! The relatives showed Princess P and I (first timers) around the small casino at FIRST WORLD HOTEL (where we stayed) and told us how the card works. This casino uses a cash card system instead of the old fashioned token system. ![]() We bet on MINI DICE, and won RM210. They roll 3 dice and you just gotta bet on which number will come out. I bet on the number 5 and it came out for 5-6 times in a row. And Princess P bet on 2 and all 3 dice were 2 and the odds for that was 10-1, so we won RM$100 on that round alone. She had more luck than me that night. Everyone was talking about how she won so much, forgetting the fact that I contributed too. Haha… boohoo. So we hung out in the casino till 8+ and it was dinner at a seafood restaurant. I felt bad that I seemed to be the only one not eating spicy stuff and Princess P had to remind her mum that, so they ordered a couple of non-chilli dishes. After meal we had to look after the 12 year old cousin and her sister, so we went to play pool and arcade. Pool was only RM$3 per game. Got back, watched some tv, talked a little, played some cards. I remembered we slept around 3am. ![]() Super tiny shower room. 10am and we’re up! ![]() ![]() View from our room. Breakfast was porridge. And as mentioned earlier we were full time baby sitters today as the adults all went casino. We started off with a lot of pool, and photo hunt. ![]() Kids will be kids. You know what they wanted for lunch? Popcorn. Damn I didn’t take any pictures. And those corn in a cup. And coke. So we went to the cinema and bought the popcorn (which was on offer) and walked around. We went outdoors to look at the outdoor theme park, and there was a crazy roller coaster ride available (outside of outdoor theme park)! ![]() You’re in a superman position and it turns abruptly and goes upside down too. The 3 of them were at first afraid, but after I told them how cheap a ride was (RM$10) and how even the cousin passed the minimum height requirement, and how it was gonna be MY treat, they all got pumped up and couldn’t wait to go. I bought the tickets and the 12 year old boy grabbed them and went to the attendant at the queue, and we haven’t even put our stuff in the locker yet! Such was everyone’s enthusiasm and excitement! So in a brief, that ride really got kick!!!! Especially ‘cos it was so windy and the air gushes in your face as you turn left and ride, up and down. ![]() Clouds? Mist? Cold indeed. Princess P and I were also relieved in a way because it started raining and it was lucky we didn’t buy tickets for the outdoor theme park. After the ride we decided to go in search of the ktv place. We caught a poster which read how cheap it was, something like RM$9 for 2 hours per pax. We then found out it was not at First World Hotel. It was at Hotel Genting, some distance away. Henceforth we embarked on a Trent goes to ktv trip. It’s just like the movie. We find ourselves in strange land. We followed directions. Asked people. And finally we got there, only to find out that the poster was outdated and the offer has expired. Her sister looked significantly depressed and out of steam, while the small guy was saying how they seem to wander even further from our home hotel. We had some hotdog buns and drinks, and then I suggested taking the cable car, something which the 2 kids have never done in their lives, and something which Princess P and I have only experienced in Sentosa. We didn’t know where the cable car would lead us. The attendant said ‘bus interchange to KL’ but we didn’t know where was that. But the 2way trip was only RM$8 each and off we went!!![]() ![]() It was really scary at first because we were heading down! But after it went horizontal it got better, not for long again because we all got hit by the altitude change and our ears were all blocked. I got a slight headache and we were all just waiting for the ride to end, but we just couldn’t see the end of it! It was only after about 25mins where we reached the end, which was the bottom of the Genting Highlands. Princess P’s relatives chose the bus route in the tour choice because they were all scared of heights. The bus took about 45mins to reach the top. We got there and walked around, and the little guy was complaining in jest how he wanna go home~~~~~. There was nothing much for us to walk around, but we grew smart and bought lollipops to suck on the ride back so we wouldn’t experience a headache, and it was a success. ![]() They all took strawberry. Mine's banana caramel. The 10 of us reunited at dinner. Then us 4 kids again. More pool and photo hunt. The little guy was especially hooked on pool because as we all know, there’s an age limit to pool players in Singapore. Where else can 12 year old boys play pool? So I entertained him throughout, and of course I won every time, and he was really very competitive and kept saying he wouldn’t stop till he beat me. We finally stopped at 1am. We brought them back to shower and did some chit chat, and when they slept, Princess P and I left for the BIGGER casino. It was really 6-7 times bigger than the one we went before. There were even tables with minimum RM$2 bets. Haha like betting for the poor people. Princess P and I didn’t really like the ambience there because it made us feel very ‘small’ and kiddy, because all the people around us seemed to be so big and well dressed and smoked and like characters out of a Zhou Ren Fa movie. We won a little over there. Then we headed back to first world and tried our luck again. We didn’t have the same ‘feeling’ as the night before, but it was also probably because the casino was no longer as crowded (it was almost 6am) and we were tired, and we seem to be betting to go through the motion. We lost more that night. Well in total we both came away with a RM$140 profit, which was terrific because my mummy used to tell me when you go to the casino, it’s actually to see how much you lose. Hahaha. It was a very good experience for both of us. And look at the number of jobs created. Oh and the first world casino has free drinks. I think I drank about 4-5 cups of milo over those 2 visits. Got back at 7am, slept, woke at 1130am, packed and ready to check out. Brunch was at starbucks. Cheesecake and chicken lasagne, plus some soya bean coffee. ![]() Pathway. And we bidded farewell to Genting as we boarded the bus. The movie was “The Medallion” starring Jackie Chan but I was too tired to watch, though I couldn’t really fall asleep for long either, waking up every now and then. The usual pitstops, and then I was home by 8pm. That’s more than 60hours I’ve spent with Princess P straight. We’ve never parted except the times we go to the toilet. I love her so much. This trip has been highly beneficial for both of us because we got to know each other even more. There were a couple of times there were some misunderstandings, but we were beside each other all the time and we fully enjoyed ourselves. Just realised it's not possible to put over 90photos on this stinky page. So I'll upload it in an album.... ![]() soon..... =) triggering Mr Ng HS |
