And hail to the great easter bunny.
![]() I just realised on sunday that this friday is a public holiday. Good Friday. Ohh glory to ignorance! That explains why my friend's msn nick was something about 'come celebrate Easter with us at the indoor stadium!' Incidentally, my mother used to tell me each year that I was born on Easter Sunday for that year, you know, the day when Jesus got resurrected on that good friday. I'm born on the same day that Jesus got resurrected! And we'd be excited for 10seconds and it was interesting because none of us were Christians. So if you've got your calculator or abacus with you, you can actually figure out when is my birthday! (note: this line is posted for strangers that come across this site. Because if you're my friend and I gave you this blog address you jolly bloody stinking well remember my birthday!! ) Like I always tell my friends, I'm a Buddhist by default, ie the religion was printed on my pre primary record book, and hey they go temple I go temple. It's been so long since those days. Now my dad's eating grass, my mum's a converted roman catholic, my brother I'm not so sure, but judging from how skeptical he is like me I doubt he's into any. So frankly put, I have no religion. I do believe there is a god or gods or some metaphysical superpower looking at us, and I don't really care if there's a heaven or hell, and where I'm going after that, because I also believe in reincarnation. I just come up with my own ideologies, and I don't get influenced by religions. People think religions are sensitive topics. I don't really think so. I think that if your mind opens wide enough, you can take in anything and discuss them without being offended. Being offended is a sign of insecurity. And to insist that everything about your religion is right is being a bigot. But who will ever think that his or her religion is wrong? Ahhh but I'm not saying that. I'm saying all religions make their own sense, and it is the gracious us to accept one another's religious beliefs. So my tutorial mate emailed me asking me to attend this: ![]() "Hey anyway, bet ur surprised to receive this email from me! but anyway, I just wanted to invite you to join me for Easter celebration at the Indoor Stadium..a couple of timings.. Sat 3pm/7pm or Sun 11am.There'll be drama n stuff so it'll definitely not be boring! (blah blah).. but I'm not outto convert you..haha..No pressure..will pass you thepostcard when i do run into you in school..(blah blah)" Do I seem like I'm really going to hell? I'm gonna expose my religious ignorance by saying that Christians think that non-believers in Christ go to hell right? As most skeptics will ask, what's hell anyway? Then believers will say oh they read it in religious books, or envisioned a hell journey to and fro, or one of their friends has gone there and told them stuff. It takes a huge chunk of faith. People shouldn't try to convert one another. We're human beings. That's it. I don't like to see people think that they have to do something or something happened because it was an act of god. Can you imagine they tried to explain the tsnami incident by religion? Oh my GOD I thought we've progressed enough to explain things not using logic. I do admit religions make people learn good things and refrain from doing bad things, according to their own religious guidelines of course. But for god's sake stop asking people to go to heaven. If everyone goes to heaven then what is Hell? And if Saddam Hussein confesses and repents and lives next door in your heavenly home will you believe him? How do you know? 'Cos god said so? If everyone goes to heaven wouldn't hell be empty and devoid of meaning? Then wouldn't heaven be just like nothing special anymore? People repent because they repent, not because so they can go to heaven. Don't use that line. I know, my friend's just being nice to invite me. I'm not making a big deal. Just saying there are other extreme people out there whom to me can't accept other people's beliefs (or the lack of). So while people are basking in the Christian light this weekend, Skaozie baby (that's for making me puke on msn 32 times last night) has planned a mini gathering to go sushi and ktv this friday. Yay! Which reminds me I should reply negative to the email, and paranoid as it sounds, I hope this doesn't turn into another cat and mouse game. triggering Mr Ng HS |
