The things I do when I no have skoo.
Ok. You see. Friday was Hari Raya Haji, so it was a Public Holiday. Plan: Meet Princess P, grab a couple of totally ridiculously funny movie vcds and watch at my place. Note: Each to choose a vcd. That will be two movies for the day. 1st screening (Princess P's): Connie and Carla. "A mob mix-up in Chicago sends two chanteuses screaming for L.A., where they score a perfect gig: posing as drag queens on the dinner theater/cabaret circuit. Things get extra-weird when a guy falls for one of the girls."
Scroll over the picture will ya? Argh. This is not a comedy. If I were to be harsh, this is a movie suitable for insomniacs and anorexics, because they induce sleep and / or vomitting effects. I mean I knew I never did like this kinda stuff, but it's ok because you know what? Princess P found it boring too! HAHAHAHA! I said she was probably trying hard to stay awake because it was she who chose the film and felt obliged to watch it. And hey, of course I watched every bit of it too. I added that other guys would have probably gone off to play their computer games and came back after the show finished. She thanked me for watching it with her, and she said it's a lousy show and she should have gotten GARFIELD or A CINDERELLA STORY instead. (Not as if it's gonna be better hurhurhur.. but this connie carla bomb really tops it all. Or bottoms it all rather.) It's so bad, if I was given a printed form to rate what I thought of the show, in the following format: WORST -5 [] -4 [] -3 [] -2 [] -1 [] 0 [] 1 [] 2 [] 3 [] 4 [] 5 [] BEST I would have ticked the -5 slot? No man, ticking anything would have wasted my ink, or my bandwidth on the net. 2nd screening (mine): Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.
"Buttoned up Harold and laidback Kumar are stoners who want to get food at a White Castle Burgers joint, which becomes a perilous journey full of strange obstacles." First off, it's DEFINITELY better than the previous film (although Princess P classified them as the same kind...noooooooooooooooooo) . I love it! Because I love American humour, always making fun of everything, and having some very witty lines in the dialogues. Princess P didn't understand much, like references of Harold to Mr Miyagi ( the teacher in karate kid) and Kumar to Apu (the mart owner), or to the dumb movie 'dude where's my car'. The ending's pretty anti-climax but well it's a good show the rental's worth checking out. ~ That's that, of our holiday vcd plan. We really laughed a lot, not during the first screening, but AFTER the first screening, because I was acting out how I was dying of boredom, and then saying no no what a nice show it was, and began to sing what connie and carla sang during their drag performances, "don't cry for me argentina". Princess P couldn't help but laugh in disgust what a sucky show it was. That set us up for a very fun evening. =) I told her we should do this more often. It's a lot cheaper.
