Another week of memorable events
Pardon me while I slack away the remaining of my holidays, as I blog less often. It was another week of fun. =) tuesday night: making jelly Princess P came over and we made those koniyaku jelly with fruits in them. She complained that the kiwis didn't look nice after I scraped off the outer skin. I said it was my first time. It was also our first time cutting fruits actually, and placing the little pieces in the jelly mould. wednesday night: bbq The mentors 7th cycle (SMP7 for short) had a gathering, and someone arrowed my place, so there it was. I hope nobody reads this haha. But anyway I had a great time. Everyone who came my house took a close look at my rabbit and they all loved her. My rabbit seemed to be ovewhelmed by the crowd though and while she usually jumps out of her cage and runs around when given the first opportunity, she jumped back into her cage when I carried her out that day. The people must have scared her! Or that she must have been traumatised by constantly hearing phrases like "later I wanna bbq your rabbit!", or "I'm gonna feed her vodka when you're gone". Stupid BV mentors. They terrorised my place, and kept asking if I had a mahjong table. I thought they were kidding until they really set up a make shift mahjong stall at my void deck. But I love them, because they are easy to talk to and a funny bunch. My fellow school mentors were playing table tennis. Princess P was carving her watermelon (see picture) for the best school dish competition. The bbq eventually took place and while I tried my best to get everyone to mingle (word of the day there), some people were not really friendly, but the event was still a success. I had a lot of fun and I got to know better quite a few number of people. A couple of times I also felt neglected by my own school mentors and Princess P in particular, and as the evening wore on I felt worse because I didn't want the night to end.
It was also the first time I tried tiramisu. I've been hearing this word since JC and I don't know what it is. Actually I still don't. Someone told me there are a lot of eggs in them, and vodka? In any case it tasted great. My school won the best school dish because all the dishes were good and it appeared that our school had the most people involved in it. There was also a lucky draw and I got 2nd. There were 8 prizes in total, and my school got 4 of them, BV had 3. We think the lucky draw is rigged. HAHA! When everything ended and I was finally back at my house, it was a little past 1am. I just threw the utensils in the basin and brushed them with water. Too lazy to clean them. I then went to shower and surprise surprise, came online. Some people asked me if my school mentors were still there. I think they got the impression they were staying over. My BV friends also thought so, and said they should have asked me over to play mahjong, instead of letting me rot online alone. Haha. I don't know how to play mahjong, and bridge. Must learn. Someday. Thursday: football once again Played football in NUS with a few of the usual gang. We played against mostly older opposition, and we lost! I think it's my fault! I scored 2 and I missed 3 clear cut chances! I am luis garcia of liverpool! (Think only my good skaozer friend will understand =p) We also didn't defend! As usual! I mean the rest! They didn't run back! What you think I am? Superman? I run to and fro! We need to defend and attack as a team! It's good to play football again. Almost could feel the rust building up. As I type there's another game outing planned tomorrow (wed) and I hope more people turn up. Friday: New year's eve Second time I celebrated the arrival of a new year after dec 31st 1999 when I was at Suntec. That was my first time and I went because I hoped for the world to come crashing down in the new millenium. Okay okay year 2000 still belongs to the 20th century, in case you still didn't know. Anyhoo, fireworks were cancelled due to the tsunami disaster which happened on boxing day. Will talk more on that later. But Princess P and I decided to go to the bay beside Esplanade. It was also where we were on our second 'date'. I think it's second. Oh no I hope she doesn't kill me if she finds out I forgot. Haha. Oh yah before we went out, I once again displayed my gentlemanly character by picking her up at her place (pui. Who the hell talks like that....other than me!) not with a porsche, or even a car. Eh I took mrt lah. You think undergrad very rich meh? But that's not the point! The point is, I bought a rose, just for her! Yay! Some of my fervent readers (what readers? =p) will remember that I'm not a flower giving person. The thought of going to a florist carries the same fear as a kid going to a dentist. So to me, it's a big deal. And I've never given any flower to a real girl before, oops I mean any real flower to a girl before, so I'm honoured to make Princess P my first recipient. So I walked to her door, pressed the door bell, and like what you see in tv shows, hid the flower behind my back. Her mum and sister opened the door, and I glanced that her room door was closed. Her mum whispered almost embarrassingly that Princess P was still sleeping. It was 830pm!! We did plan to meet later in the evening so we will be fresh for the whole night. So Princess P finally woke up (She still claims she was awake already.) and I popped out the flower like a magician, and wished her a happy new year, and she was surprised! Yeah! Mission accomplished! We had Long John Silvers again at Plaza Sing and then we walked to the bay. There were many couples there but interestingly there were also 3 male malaysians using sticks playing tictactoe on the minimal sands. And we counted down (or rather she counted down again), twice in fact, because the ships playing party music in the seas had countdown parties and we followed their timings. And so the first person I saw in 2005 is Princess P. =) I wonder what did my rabbit see. Hmm... We planned to catch the 325am movie at Orchard Cineleisure. At around 245am we left the bay. I suggested a cab, because walking was too far and we were short of time. Princess P suggested the NightRider buses (NR) which will take us into the heart of Orchard road. We boarded NR7 and after we confirmed with the bus driver that we would go past orchard. It was my first time on a NR, and I asked her how much was it. $2? She said it should be $3. That's when I felt like tearing out my hair because 2 x $3 = $6, and we had calculated that a taxi ride (even with the 1.5 midnight surcharge) the price will be a little past $5 max. She gave me that (aiyah oh sh*t oh no bananas in pyjamas what have I done look) and then told me how nice it was sitting in a bus with big window panes and we could see the stars (no stars that night) and how we would have missed all this if we had taken a cab. The thing was a cab would have gotten us there straightaway. The NR weaved through so many unfamiliar roads that Princess P and I were suspecting if the bus driver had lied to us (maybe unintentionally because so many people were asking where the bus was headed) and we sat there for a few minutes thinking if we should alight because we had no idea where we were. And we asked a fellow passenger who had no idea, so we just sat and enjoyed the 'beautiful sceneries'. In the end we did end up at Orchard Road and the movie on time.
The movie wasn't even half as funny as Shaolin Soccer if you wanna compare recent Stephen Chow works. It was a little explicit with the kung fu scenes, like how a head being sewn off and how a guy's head is being repeatedly punched into the ground. It also reminded me of The Matrix during the group fight scenes. And the plot was really shallow, surprisingly to me, and I rate it much worse then Shaolin soccer's predictable storyline. Still, Stephen Chow fans should take a look. The special effects are notable and you can find some casual references of Shaolin soccer inside the film. After the movie we slowly walked back to the esplanade bay because we planned to watch the sun rise. It was both our first time. Anyway as expected it wasn't really the best place to catch a sunrise, and the sky just magically turned bright. Princess P fell asleep and imagined a cleaner uncle sweeping away her shoes. She woke, checked her shoes, and gave me that blur look. Hahahahaha! Took a bus and sent her back. Came back online settled my yahoo fantasy football team before I crashed into bed around 11am new year's day morning. Saturday: new year's day sleep sleep sleep Woke up only in the evening. And then it was football football football. On tv. Monday (yesterday): Pool and chit chat Princess P wanted to play pool and this time we did play. Being the super gentleman (oh man I can't even stand myself now) I didn't even take the balls in hand and for the last few racks I even hit the black ball nearer for her to hit, and keep hitting fouls so I could see her smiling and placing the cue ball anywhere she wanted. I also tried to talk to her while we were playing but she wasn't really interested and her mind seemed to be wondering off. =( Anyway she later said she got tired after playing the first few racks and indeed once we stopped playing she was back to her usual self. We had dinner where she had some ma2 la4 noodles (spicy stuff, cannot bluff) and it was cute watching her eat and hearing her tongue make that sssss slithering sound and I took a tissue and helped her soak off her sweat on her face. =) We then came back to my house, and she went to talk to my mum for a long long time. And she then came back and told me all these stuffs, many which my mum never mentioned before. And she said my mum even cried a little, and she was putting her hand on my mum's shoulder telling her it's over. Actually my mum's side is so confusing now, because I haven't updated on her story for quite a while. More on that another time too. But it's nice seeing her treat Princess P like her own daughter. =) Today So now it's tuesday afternoon and I'm all alone in my room typing this. I'm supposed to check on more modules to take, but I'm pretty sick of those sites now. I think that's enough for now. Smile people. =) triggering Mr Ng HS |
