Another sem bites the dust.
So we've come to the end of the exams. 3 semesters in NUS already. I don't know whether I've truly learnt something. I got an F for an essay. I think I still haven't realised how to write a paper. There's so much more I need to improve. As mentioned in the pen episode, I also got a D (which was the lowest grade in my nus history at that moment) for a paper. For another paper I didn't even go and take it back because after I got the F I felt so demoralised and stupid I didn't dare to. Anyway the exams were ok. I hope I pass all, so I don't have to take extra modules next semester. This has to be my worst semester academically wise. To console myself it's probably the negativity obtained due to the positive increase in my social life. You know the balance theory. Haha. It's also december which means the one month of holidays has started. I'm not doing much though, as usual. I wish Princess P could spend more time with me but she has to work and money's important too I guess. Bridget Jones 2 and Singapore Idol If you thought that I wanted to watch this show, leave your name will ya? And I'll kill you. Haha point is I did watch it on tuesday thanks to Princess P and yay we are ok after some confusions yet again. I do hope we continue to be lovey dovey instead of grumpy bumpy (this term I invent wan, nice right? heh.) I don't know why, I just don't like British slang? I mean, I picture myself reading the text dialouge and maybe having a chuckle, but when they talk on screen it just kills everything. With stephen chow and his slapstick genre, I laugh even though I know what's gonna happen and it does happen, but with Bridge Jones I just don't. And what's with the weird middle aged lady sitting BESIDE me laughing like a mad woman. Maybe she's in a similar plight? Or what? The part where Bridget Jones was sliding off in her snow ski backwards. Was it that funny? Was it even funny at all? She was laughing and bending forward so extremely you'd think that she was told the lemon tree guy won singapore idol. Talking about Singapore idol, oh yeah Taufik Batistuta won against Sylvester SIMi dai ji. Taufikster is really good though, and maybe I'm a tad biased 'cos of my love for r&b, but he just sings these types of songs so well; and while they say Singapore's usher, I think he's like the new stevie wonder! Sylvester was poor except for his 3rd song (a slow one which I like, surprise surprise), and he's better off in the chinese market, which is maybe why he was asked to sing the 2nd song An Jing by Jay Chou so the producers can listen and see if he's up to scratch. The only concern, is of course if Taufik can really light up the singing industry here, what with his inability to sing in Mandarin and hs inability to tap into the hot hot hot Taiwanese market. But I'm oh so interested in checking out what songs he will cover in this album, and a r&b fan like me might just buy that album. Gurmit Cantsingh said there are about 3million votes. I've called up Mediakorp and while they can't tell me the actual breakdown, this is what they consolidated (wonder how they do it). The rough breakdown: xiao mei mei: 2.1 million xiao mei mei's boyfriends and butch girlfriends ("if not I don't friend you!"): 0.4 million xiao mei mei's parents and grandparents (forced by xiao mei mei): 0.2 million mediakorp and Singteld employees forcing their friends to call to support: 0.1 million T and S's family members calling and forcing their friends to call to support: 0.1 million others: 0.1 million consists of> callers who accidentally dialled the number callers who thought that callers stand a chance to win the brand new chevrolet callers who thought it's a HOT chatline callers who thought by calling the idols will stop singing I still think the votes didn't matter as I think Mediakorp and BMGee already decided who the contract should go to anyway, but yah it was good entertainment just now, and that's a cool 1.5million Sing dollars in one night, baby. I also don't understand the rationale behind spending big bucks in idol chasing. I guess when you're crazy there's really no rationale. But in a positive note at least there are people interested in our local entertainment scene. I also think the "that's what friends are for (dionne warwick)" cover is gonna be on the airwaves 100 times a day for at least 2 months. Shopping I've bought the book I want, that is Squee, S$30 at Kino. Too bad I don't live in America. No imports then. I also want to buy JTHM. But here's the complicated part: There are 7 issues, each at S$6, and I've already bought 4 issues. THEN I realise there's a compilation book. I'm not sure if there's extra stuff inside, but I like a book rather than 7 flimsy magazines. The book costs S$36, and I'm thinking of selling those 4 issues that I have. How am I gonna do that? Do people actually buy from yahoo? Do I try to sell first then buy? Or should I just spend the remaining S$18 and get the 3 missing issues and that's that. And maybe buy the 3 and sell all 7 so I can buy the book. I don't think there's gonna be anyone buying! And I can't find a 2nd hand copy of this online for sale. And I don't know people in USA coming back in December. So the book is put on hold meantime. Arghghhg as I type this I've just gone to amazon to check how much it would cost and I clicked on "place your order" and that meant confirmation! ARghghgh US$25.94 that's like over S$40. Sigh. Subtotal of Items: $13.96 Shipping & Handling: $11.98 ------ Total for this Order: $25.94 Shipping estimate for these items: December 6, 2004 Delivery estimate: December 20, 2004 - December 31, 2004 Sigh. So I'll be eating grass for this month of December. And I still need to get rid of those 4 books. Anyone? If you want I can lend you and if you like it I can give them to you, and you can buy the remaining 3 (you will want to, trust me) yourself. Thanks for your order, Trent! ARghghhghghghghghg. These words will haunt me to sleep for the next few nights. At least the book is for me, and not spent on voting an idol. But stilllll~?~?~?~?~?~? I tell you, when the book comes I'll wrap it with gold and hug it to sleep everynight and then lock it up in a safe and then have a 500 pin combination and thumbprint identification security and and and...... ARGHAHSGHASHGHASGASGHASDUhSUODHASDUIOAHS*(DHASDUBASUIDEVGBQWIAWDAWVBDAWVAIVAIPSDVG. *munches on grass* Edited: After an initial moment of giving in to buying the book (it's not that bad) I went back to do a thorough search and I don't know why but I took a long time before finding the cancellation button. I think I was afraid and feeling like a noob (newbie) because I have never done online transations other than the purchase of movie tickets, so I thought I screwed up and that's it. Because you only pay for items when we ship them to you, you won't be charged for any items that you cancel. Thank you for visiting Amazon.com! Thank you Amazon! *spits out grass* pui.
