Today:
FASS 2-2 LAW A game we should have, and could have won, but we went behind twice to equalise. I didn't play, as expected, but it was helluva fun shouting from the sidelines together with the subs. And in the end it wasn't that bad a result, the team ended the day with somewhat high morale. ~ Something amusing happened today. I met a friend to collect an assigment sheet in the afternoon. She thoughtfully collected it for me in the lecture which I didn't attend. So prior to that I went to the Central CO OP to get a lollipop for her. After I paid for the stuff I bought, the cashier (The youngest looking amongst the 3 women. I think there are 3 women rotating right.) looked at me and said in mandarin "You like to eat lollipop hor?" I was taken by surprise. "You can recognise me?" I asked, as my eyes became bigger than the lollipops themselves. I asked this because I bought a few for my friends the previous thursday. "Hannor..." (How do you spell singlish damn it.) And I cut her off before she could proceed. "No lah I buy for my friends wan lah! So weird one big boy eating lollipop alone!" "I remembered you came that day and bought quite a few.." "Yah lah all for my friends loh!" And I said thanks and we smiled at each other before I left. So sweet! Not the lollipop you dumbass! But the fact that people actually recognise me! So interesting. I think I tend to get along with strangers pretty well. Especially older people. I always talk to the male cleaner at the arts canteen. The tall lanky one with the white greyish shirt wiping our tables. Once I said thanks while he wiped my table and then he asked me why wasn't I eating is it because I don't have money, and promptly asked the friend sitting beside me to give me a treat. Can you imagine how surprised my friend was. And the soya bean drink stall uncle with the receding hairline. He likes to talk to me, but I think he just likes to talk to everyone. And me speaking mandarin does help. His friendly disposition towards everyone is certainly very heart warming. I like to talk to him too. And he tells me stuff like how that soya bean drink has been 45cents for how many donkey years. These people present in our lives. You might not notice them, but they are there. And they are nice people, just trying to find some conversation in their mundane routines. Talk to them. They make you happy. =D triggering Mr Ng HS |
